Do You Need to Lose Weight?
Before we do anything to manage our weight, we must first talk and determine our BMI or Body Mass Index. What is a Body Mass Index? It is a Measure of Body fat based on Height and Weight that applies to men and women. It is important to know your BMI, for the reason that with this you will determine if you are underweight, normal weight, overweight or already obese. You can measure your BMI even you are at home all you have to do is to know your weight in pounds and height in inches. After determining your BMI then we can start our losing weight program in a natural way.
Calculate Your BMI before Losing Weight
How we can calculate BMI? First thing that we should know are your weight in pounds and your height in inches. Then follow the formula for calculating your BMI.
Body Mass Index = (Weight in Pounds / (Height in inches x Height in inches)) x 703
Example of BMI Computation:
Given:
Height = 64”
Weight = 180lbs.
Answer:
Body Mass Index = ( 180/ ( 64 x 64)) x 703
BMI = 30.89
As you see in the sample computation the BMI is 30.89. Now, after knowing the BMI it’s time to categorize it from the following the following:
BMI Categories:
Underweight = Less than 18.5 BMI
Normal weight = 18.5–24.9 BMI
Overweight = 25–29.9 BMI
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater BMI

Obviously, 30.89BMI is categorized as Obese and you must have an effort lose weight. This situation needs more attention and must not be ignored. There are a lot of reasons that Obesity must not be ignored. Obesity can affect your health like abdominal problem, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, insomnia, liver disease, gall bladder disease, breathing problem, thrombosis, arthritis, sexual dysfunction and a lot more. Obesity has been found to reduce the life expectancy.

We can treat obesity with our determination and self-discipline in food intake. Dieting and Physical
exercise are required to help you to lose weight. Avoid fatty foods, meats and reducing intake of carbohydrates. Instead of eating animal based food, switch to plant based diet and take natural food supplements that will increase your metabolism. As we age our metabolism gets slow and it is a must to watch our food intake, remember “we eat to live and we don’t live to eat.” In our generation, where most foods are filled with chemicals or preservatives; all we can do is to prevent and protect our greatest investment and that is our body.
